Hello everyone, and welcome to my very first blog post! I am so incredibly excited to finally have a space where I can connect with you all in a brand new way. Whether you have caught one of my shows at a local bar or restaurant here in Cape Coral, found me through social media, or have been following my journey for years, this blog is for you. This is going to be my go-to spot for sharing everything that is happening in my world, and trust me, there is a lot going on right now that I cannot wait to tell you about.
Why I Started This Blog
After more than 20 years of performing live, I have learned that the connection between a performer and their audience does not have to end when the last song plays and the lights come up. You all have shown me so much love and support over the years, from my early days touring the United States with an 80s dance band, to those incredible nights performing at legendary Las Vegas venues like the Sands, the Sahara, the Tropicana, and the Stratosphere, and now right here in Southwest Florida where I am proud to call home.
This blog is my way of keeping that connection alive between shows. I want to pull back the curtain a little, share what is in the works, give you updates on where I will be performing, and let you in on some truly exciting news that is coming down the pipeline. Think of this as your backstage pass to everything Barbara B.
What You Can Expect to Find Here
I plan to keep this blog fresh and updated regularly, so you always have a reason to check back in. Here is a taste of what I will be covering:
- Show announcements and venue updates so you always know where to find me performing next throughout Cape Coral and the surrounding region
- Behind-the-scenes looks at how I put my shows together, from setlist planning to live sequencing and keyboard prep
- Updates on my live flute work, which has been such a thrilling new addition to my performances and something I am deeply passionate about
- Personal stories and memories from over two decades on stages across the country
- Original music news, which I will get to in just a moment because this one deserves its very own spotlight
The Most Exciting News: Original Music Is in the Works
Okay, this is the part I have been absolutely buzzing about, and I am so thrilled to finally be able to say it out loud. I am currently working on original music. Yes, you read that right. Brand new, never-before-heard songs written from the heart, and I honestly could not be more excited about where this creative journey is taking me.
A Dream That Has Always Been There
Anyone who truly knows me knows that performing covers, as much as I love it and always will, has never been the full picture of who I am as an artist. I have spent decades pouring myself into songs written by others, from 60s and 70s classics to jazz standards to today's biggest hits, and I have loved every single moment of it. But there has always been this creative fire inside me that has been waiting for the right time, the right inspiration, and the right energy to step into something truly my own.
What the Music Will Sound Like
Without giving too much away just yet, I can tell you that the original material I am working on is deeply personal, musically rich, and influenced by everything I have experienced throughout my career. Expect that same energy and soul you feel at my live shows, the full-band sound, the emotion, the storytelling. And yes, you better believe the flute is going to be a part of it. That instrument has become such a signature part of who I am as a performer now, and it absolutely belongs in this new chapter of my music.
I will be sharing updates right here on the blog as things develop, so this is the best place to stay in the loop. I want to bring you along for every step of this process because you, my audience, are the reason I do any of this in the first place.
Let's Stay Connected
Starting this blog feels like opening a new door, and I am stepping through it with so much gratitude and enthusiasm. This is just the beginning, and I truly mean that. The shows are better than ever, the music is coming, and the best is absolutely yet to come.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here, for your support, and for being part of this incredible ride. Make sure you bookmark this page and check back often because things are about to get very exciting around here. See you at the next show, and until then, keep the music loud and the good vibes going.
With love and music, Barbara B
